CSE RAF Travel Grants

Conference travel grants are available for CSE students under the CSE Research Acceleration Fund. The travel grants are of two types:

  • Full funding. Funding up to Rs 3.5 Lakhs will be provided for participation in leading conferences. The DRC will decide what conferences are to be designated as leading.
  • Partial funding. Funding up to Rs 1.5 Lakhs will be provided for participation in reputable conferences. The DRC will decide what conferences are to be designated as reputable.

Students who wish to apply for a travel grant should refer to the rules and regulations governing these grants as described below.

Eligibility

  1. Students currently enrolled in the following programs are eligible for support: CS1, CS5, MCS, CSY, CSZ.
  2. The student must be the only student from CSE at IIT Delhi attending the conference. In case more than one paper with CSE IIT Delhi authors is accepted at the conference then one award will be made per paper.
  3. The paper being presented must have the student’s affiliation mentioned as IIT Delhi in the authoritative published version and must have a CSE faculty member as co-author.
  4. No student will be funded past a total of Rs 3.5 Lakhs through this program during their stay. However, students may apply multiple times within this limit.

Procedure

Step 1. The student applying for funding should fill the Travel application form. Once filled please ensure the filled form is emailed to you. Please then forward this form to your CSE faculty co-author. It is understood that you will discuss how the form is to be filled with the CSE faculty co-author prior to filling the form.

Step 2. The CSE faculty co-author should forward the email to aacommittee at cse.iitd.ac.in. Prior to forwarding the email the faculty co-author should ensure that the student has made reasonable efforts to apply for funding from other sources.

Step 3. The AAC will vet the application and forward it to the DRC for approval and award.

Step 4. The DRC will consider the application and make the award if it feels it is appropriate.

Note:

i. In view of the fact that several funding sources take a substantial amount of time to respond, the DRC may grant conditional approval, i.e., the DRC may approve support subject to rejection from other funding sources.

ii. In general, the DRC will endeavor to ensure that only one CSE student is supported for one paper. However, it is understood that due to the complexities involved in applying to multiple sources of funding, it may not be possible to always ensure this. As such the DRC will apply its mind and evolve a solution that ensures a balance between a judicious use of funds and the aims of the program.

Beneficiary Responsibilities

a.) The student beneficiary will endeavor to ensure that the phrase “This work was partially supported by the CSE Research Acceleration Fund of IIT Delhi” appears in the proceedings version of the paper. If the DRC’s approval is communicated to the beneficiary at least two working days before the stated deadline for submission of the proceedings version of the paper, then the requirement that the acknowledgement phrase appear in the published paper should be treated as a hard requirement.

b.) The student will submit a 4-minute video presenting the paper to a general audience. This video will be vetted by the AAC and revisions may be suggested. The video may be submitted prior to or after the travel but no later than 7 days after returning from travel. Travel bills will be processed only after the final version of the video has been approved. Please email your completed video to aacommittee at cse.iitd.ac.in.
